- One Canadian practice spent CAD $4,471 on Google Ads from June to September 2026 and booked CAD $48,235 of client revenue.
- Presence-only targeting matters more in Canada, because many cities sit close to the US border.
- Follow-up texts go out in your own time zone's daytime hours, from Newfoundland to BC.
- Our fee is in US dollars. Your ad budget is paid to Google in Canadian dollars.
Google Ads can work very well for Canadian hypnotherapists when it's set to people physically in your area, followed up quickly, and judged on the revenue it books rather than clicks. One Canadian practice we run spent CAD $4,471 from June to September 2026 and booked CAD $48,235 of client revenue.
I've run Google Ads for hypnotherapists only for over 12 years, including for practices across Canada. This page covers the Canadian numbers I can share, the settings that matter more in Canada than elsewhere, and a Canadian client talking about her practice.
What Canadian hypnotherapists get from Google Ads
Our clearest Canadian figure: one practice spent CAD $4,471 on Google Ads over four months and booked CAD $48,235 of client revenue.
| Practice | Period | Ad budget | Client revenue booked |
|---|---|---|---|
| One practice, Canada | June to September 2026 (4 months) | CAD $4,471 | CAD $48,235 |
Revenue is the package value recorded at sale, taken from the practice's own booking records and matched to the Google Ads account. It's revenue booked, not profit, and it's one real account rather than a typical or guaranteed result. Your area, your fees and how quickly you follow up all change the numbers.
That's around CAD $1,100 a month in ad spend. It wasn't a huge budget. What made the difference was the follow-up and feeding sale values back to Google, so bidding learned which searches turned into paying clients.
Settings that matter more in Canada
Canada has two things most countries don't: big cities close to the US border, and six time zones. Both change how a campaign should be set up.
- Presence-only targeting near the border. Google's default location setting also shows your ads to people "interested in" your area. Near the border that can mean paying for clicks from people in the US who'll never visit you. We use presence-only on every campaign, so you pay for people in or regularly in your area.
- Follow-up in your local hours. Every enquiry gets an instant text and email, then reminders. We set those to send in your own time zone's daytime hours, so a reminder doesn't land at midnight because the system was set to someone else's clock.
- Consent on every enquiry. Canada's anti-spam law requires consent before sending commercial messages. The enquiry form collects it, so follow-up texts and emails go to people who asked for them.
- Room to cover a wider area. Outside the big cities, people often travel further for a practitioner they trust, and many book online sessions. Your area can usually be wider than it would be in the UK, as long as it doesn't overlap another client's.
I only take one hypnotherapist per area, so the first step is checking yours is still free. Takes two minutes.
See if my area is freeWhat people search before they book
Most people who book anxiety hypnotherapy don't search "hypnotherapist near me". They search their problem and what they've already tried, like CBT, counselling or medication.
Across 12 live anxiety-hypnotherapy accounts over the 12 months to 21 September 2026, the biggest group of bookers had searched about therapy or medication they'd already tried. Searches like "how to calm your nervous system" and "does hypnotherapy work for anxiety" were where a lot of bookings started.
So your pages need to answer "I've tried counselling, why would this be different?" and "what does it cost?" plainly, in Canadian dollars. The full breakdown is in what people search before booking anxiety hypnotherapy.
How we set up Google Ads for a Canadian practice
The method is the same in every country. For Canada, what changes is the time zone, the currency and how far your area reaches.
| Part of the system | How we run it in Canada |
|---|---|
| Campaign structure | One campaign or ad group per issue you treat (anxiety, panic, phobias, sleep and so on), each with its own page |
| Keywords | Phrase and exact match first. Searches that book get promoted to exact. Broad match only once the account has booking data |
| Location | Presence-only: people physically in or regularly in your area, never Google's default "interest" setting |
| Negatives | A base list of 800+ negative keywords from day one, then a weekly search-term review |
| Bidding | Optimise for booked consults first, then for the revenue each client brings in, fed back from your booking records |
| Follow-up | Instant text and email with a booking link, then reminders, sent inside sensible local hours |
Your ad budget is billed by Google in Canadian dollars. Our fee is the same USD amount in every country.
Setting it up, step by step
A Canadian build goes from area check to launch in six steps, and you only need to do a few of them yourself.
- Check your area is free. We only work with one practice per area, so the first step is making sure nobody we already work with is targeting your patch.
- Build the pages. A fast page for each issue you treat, written to match what people actually search, with your photo, your reviews and a booking calendar.
- Build the campaign. One campaign per issue, phrase and exact match keywords, presence-only location targeting and the base negative list.
- Connect the follow-up and tracking. Every enquiry lands in your CRM, gets an instant text and email, and is tracked back to the search that brought it in.
- Test it end to end. One real test enquiry before launch, checked in the CRM and in Google Ads.
- Launch and review weekly. Search terms reviewed every week, converting searches promoted, waste blocked, and booked revenue fed back so bidding learns.
The slow part is learning. Enquiries usually start in the first weeks, but it takes around three months of booking data before the account really knows which searches become paying clients in your area.
A Canadian client in her own words
Dawn runs Your Life Reinvented in Canada and has worked with us for almost six years.
She runs her practice part time and talks about generating over six figures in her business in each of the last three years.
"Generated over 6 figures in my business consecutively over the last 3 years."
That's her experience, not a promise. If you want to work through the numbers for your own area, the guide to Google Ads costs for hypnotherapists shows the maths.
Is your Canadian area free?
We work with one hypnotherapy practice per area in Canada, so the first step is checking yours isn't taken.
If it's free, we'll talk through your area, your fees and a starting budget. If it's taken, I'll tell you straight away. Have a look below.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Google Ads cost for a hypnotherapist in Canada?
You set the budget and pay per click. One Canadian practice we run spent CAD $4,471 over four months, around CAD $1,100 a month, and booked CAD $48,235 of client revenue. That's one real account, not a guarantee.
Will my ads show to people in the US?
Not with our setup. We use presence-only location targeting, so your ads only show to people physically in or regularly in your area, not to people across the border who are merely interested in it.
Do you run campaigns in French?
Our campaigns and pages are written in English. If most of your clients search in French, talk to us first so we can be honest about whether it's a good fit.
Do you charge in Canadian dollars?
Our fee is in US dollars and is the same in every country: USD $550 setup, then USD $400 a month for a three-month pilot and USD $600 a month after that. Your ad budget is separate and is paid straight to Google in your own currency.
How long does Google Ads take to work for a hypnotherapist in Canada?
Enquiries usually start in the first weeks, but the account takes around three months to learn which searches turn into paying clients in your area. That's why the first three months are a pilot.
Do I need a lock-in contract?
No. There's no lock-in contract. The three-month pilot is there because that's how long the account needs to learn, not to tie you in.
