- The method is the same as in our other countries: one campaign per issue, presence-only targeting, and bidding on booked revenue.
- US business texting needs A2P 10DLC registration with the carriers. We prepare it and don't launch until it's approved.
- Big US metros have more practitioners bidding, so a tight area and strong pages matter more.
- I'm not publishing US account numbers yet. Our UK, Canadian and Australian figures are on their own pages.
Google Ads works for US hypnotherapists when it's set to a tight local area, followed up instantly by text and email, and judged on booked consults and revenue rather than clicks. The one thing US practices need that others don't is text-message registration with the carriers, which we prepare before launch.
I've run Google Ads for hypnotherapists only for over 12 years, across the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. This page covers how we set things up for American practices, the US-only step you need to know about, and a US client talking about her practice.
What US hypnotherapists can expect
The method we use in the US is the same one behind our figures elsewhere. I haven't published US account numbers yet, so I won't quote any here.
For reference, our clearest results from other countries are a Canadian practice that booked CAD $48,235 of client revenue from CAD $4,471 of ad spend over four months, and a Newcastle practice that got booked consultations at about GBP 54 each. Both are on the Canada and UK pages with the details. They're real accounts, not a prediction for yours.
What I can say about the US is what tends to be different. Large metros usually have more practitioners and clinics bidding on the same searches, so clicks can cost more. Smaller cities and towns are often quieter. Either way, the practices that do well are the ones whose page answers the searcher's question and who follow up fast.
The US-only step: text-message registration
US carriers require businesses to register before sending texts from a local number. It's called A2P 10DLC, and without it your follow-up texts can be blocked or filtered.
Instant text follow-up is a big part of why enquiries turn into booked consults, so we treat this as part of the build:
- Consent pages. We build the pages that show carriers how people opt in to your texts, with clear consent wording.
- The registration itself. We prepare every field so it can be submitted correctly the first time.
- No launch until it's approved. For US practices we wait for approval before turning the ads on. It can take a while. This is the slow part of a US build, and I'd rather tell you that up front.
Practices in Canada, the UK and Australia don't have to wait for this, which is one reason their builds can go live sooner.
I only take one hypnotherapist per area, so the first step is checking yours is still free. Takes two minutes.
See if my area is freeWhat people search before they book
Most people who book anxiety hypnotherapy don't search "hypnotherapist near me". They search their problem and what they've already tried, like CBT, counselling or medication.
Across 12 live anxiety-hypnotherapy accounts in four countries, over the 12 months to 21 September 2026, the biggest group of bookers had searched about therapy or medication they'd already tried. Searches like "how to control a panic attack without medication" and "how much is hypnotherapy" were where a lot of bookings started.
Your pages should answer "I've tried therapy, why would this be different?" and "what does it cost?" plainly. The full breakdown is in what people search before booking anxiety hypnotherapy.
How we set up Google Ads for a US practice
One campaign per issue, phrase and exact match first, presence-only targeting, and bidding that learns from booked revenue.
| Part of the system | How we run it in the US |
|---|---|
| Campaign structure | One campaign or ad group per issue you treat (anxiety, panic, phobias, sleep and so on), each with its own page |
| Keywords | Phrase and exact match first. Searches that book get promoted to exact. Broad match only once the account has booking data |
| Location | Presence-only: people physically in or regularly in your area, never Google's default "interest" setting |
| Negatives | A base list of 800+ negative keywords from day one, then a weekly search-term review |
| Bidding | Optimise for booked consults first, then for the revenue each client brings in, fed back from your booking records |
| Follow-up | Instant text and email with a booking link, then reminders, sent inside sensible local hours |
The US has four main time zones, so follow-up texts and reminders are set to your own local daytime hours. Your ad budget is billed by Google in US dollars, and our fee is the same in every country.
Setting it up, step by step
A US build has the same six steps as everywhere else, plus the text registration, which runs alongside the build.
- Check your area is free. We only work with one practice per area, so the first step is making sure nobody we already work with is targeting your patch.
- Build the pages. A fast page for each issue you treat, written to match what people actually search, with your photo, your reviews and a booking calendar.
- Build the campaign. One campaign per issue, phrase and exact match keywords, presence-only location targeting and the base negative list.
- Connect the follow-up and tracking. Every enquiry lands in your CRM, gets an instant text and email, and is tracked back to the search that brought it in.
- Test it end to end. One real test enquiry before launch, checked in the CRM and in Google Ads.
- Launch and review weekly. Search terms reviewed every week, converting searches promoted, waste blocked, and booked revenue fed back so bidding learns.
The first three months are a pilot because that's how long the account needs to learn which searches become paying clients in your area.
A US client in her own words
Jeanette Marie runs her practice in Fairfax, Virginia.
She was struggling to get consistent clients from social media before a colleague referred her to us. She talks about being able to do her work without stressing about marketing.
"I struggled with social media, now I can do my work without stressing about marketing."
That's her experience, not a promise. Results depend on your area, your fees and your follow-up.
Is your US area free?
We work with one hypnotherapy practice per area in the US, so the first step is checking yours isn't taken.
If it's free, we'll talk through your area, your fees and a starting budget. If it's taken, I'll tell you straight away. Have a look below.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Google Ads cost for a hypnotherapist in the US?
You set the budget and pay per click, and costs vary a lot between metros and smaller towns. I haven't published US account figures yet. Our real figures from the UK, Canada and Australia are on those country pages.
What is A2P 10DLC and do I need it?
It's the registration US carriers require before a business can send texts from a local number. If you want automatic text follow-up in the US, you need it. We prepare the registration and consent pages for you.
Why won't you launch before the text registration is approved?
Without it, US carriers can block or filter your follow-up texts, and instant follow-up is a big part of why enquiries book. So for US practices we wait for approval before turning the ads on.
Do you charge in US dollars?
Our fee is in US dollars and is the same in every country: USD $550 setup, then USD $400 a month for a three-month pilot and USD $600 a month after that. Your ad budget is separate and is paid straight to Google in your own currency.
How long does Google Ads take to work for a hypnotherapist in the US?
Enquiries usually start in the first weeks, but the account takes around three months to learn which searches turn into paying clients in your area. That's why the first three months are a pilot.
Do I need a lock-in contract?
No. There's no lock-in contract. The three-month pilot is there because that's how long the account needs to learn, not to tie you in.
