- A Newcastle practice spent GBP 433 in September 2026 and got 8 booked consultations, about GBP 54 each.
- UK areas are small and busy. We keep targeting tight, especially in and around London, and never overlap two clients.
- Most bookings come from people searching their problem and what they've already tried, like CBT, not from "hypnotherapist near me".
- Our fee is in US dollars. Your ad budget is paid to Google in pounds.
Google Ads works for UK hypnotherapists when it's set up around how people in your area actually search, kept to a tight local area, and judged on booked consults rather than clicks. In one Newcastle practice we run, GBP 433 of ad spend in September 2026 produced 8 booked consultations, about GBP 54 each.
I've run Google Ads for hypnotherapists only for over 12 years, including for practices across the UK. This page covers what's different about running ads for a British practice, the real UK numbers I can share, and three UK clients talking about what changed for them.
What UK hypnotherapists get from Google Ads
Our clearest recent UK figure: a Newcastle practice spent GBP 433 in September 2026 and got 8 booked consultations, about GBP 54 per booked consult.
| Practice | Period | Ad spend | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| One practice, Newcastle | September 2026 | GBP 433 | 8 booked consultations, about GBP 54 each |
Cost per booked consult is ad spend divided by consults booked in the same month. It's one real account, not a typical or guaranteed result. Your numbers depend on your area, your fees and how quickly you follow up.
The longer-term picture comes from clients themselves. Mark Carter runs a practice in Essex. Before working with us he was getting two or three leads a month from word of mouth, flyers and a basic website. He now gets 30 to 40 a month and talks about going from earning £80 a month to between £3,000 and £6,000.
"I've gone from earning £80 a month to between three and six thousand pounds."
Why UK campaigns need tight targeting
UK towns sit close together and cities are dense, so a UK hypnotherapy campaign should cover a small area around your practice, set to people physically there.
In Australia or Canada, a practice might reasonably cover a whole city and its outskirts. In the UK that same radius can take in several towns and a lot of people who'll never travel to you. London is the extreme case. The population is so high that a handful of nearby boroughs or towns usually gives a practice plenty of searches.
Two settings matter most:
- Presence-only location targeting. Google's default also shows your ads to people "interested in" your area, wherever they are. We switch that off on every campaign, so you only pay for people in or regularly in your area.
- No overlap between clients. We work with one practice per area and check every other client's live targeting before setting yours, so two of our clients are never bidding on the same searcher.
If you see clinics across the county showing up for the same searches as you, that's usually loose targeting, not a bigger market.
What people in the UK search before they book
Most people who book anxiety hypnotherapy don't search "hypnotherapist near me". They search their problem and the things they've already tried, like CBT, counselling or medication.
Across 12 live anxiety-hypnotherapy accounts over the 12 months to 21 September 2026, the biggest group of bookers had searched about therapy, CBT or medication they'd already tried. In the UK, a lot of people will have come through their GP or NHS Talking Therapies first, so they know what CBT is and want to know what else might help.
That means your page should answer two questions plainly: "I've tried CBT, why would this be different?" and "what does it cost and does it work?" Searches like "how to control a panic attack without medication" or "does hypnotherapy work for anxiety" are where a lot of bookings start. The full breakdown is in what people search before booking anxiety hypnotherapy.
I only take one hypnotherapist per area, so the first step is checking yours is still free. Takes two minutes.
See if my area is freeHow we set up Google Ads for a UK practice
The method is the same in every country. What changes for the UK is the size of the area, the currency and the local wording on your pages.
| Part of the system | How we run it in the UK |
|---|---|
| Campaign structure | One campaign or ad group per issue you treat (anxiety, panic, phobias, sleep and so on), each with its own page |
| Keywords | Phrase and exact match first. Searches that book get promoted to exact. Broad match only once the account has booking data |
| Location | Presence-only: people physically in or regularly in your area, never Google's default "interest" setting |
| Negatives | A base list of 800+ negative keywords from day one, then a weekly search-term review |
| Bidding | Optimise for booked consults first, then for the revenue each client brings in, fed back from your booking records |
| Follow-up | Instant text and email with a booking link, then reminders, sent inside sensible local hours |
Your pages use UK spelling and pounds, and your booking calendar runs on UK time. Ad budget is billed to you by Google in pounds. Our fee is the same USD amount in every country.
Setting it up, step by step
A UK build goes from area check to launch in six steps, and you only need to do a few of them yourself.
- Check your area is free. We only work with one practice per area, so the first step is making sure nobody we already work with is targeting your patch.
- Build the pages. A fast page for each issue you treat, written to match what people actually search, with your photo, your reviews and a booking calendar.
- Build the campaign. One campaign per issue, phrase and exact match keywords, presence-only location targeting and the base negative list.
- Connect the follow-up and tracking. Every enquiry lands in your CRM, gets an instant text and email, and is tracked back to the search that brought it in.
- Test it end to end. One real test enquiry before launch, checked in the CRM and in Google Ads.
- Launch and review weekly. Search terms reviewed every week, converting searches promoted, waste blocked, and booked revenue fed back so bidding learns.
I'll be straight: the first few weeks are the slow part. Enquiries usually start early, but the account needs around three months of booking data before it really knows which searches turn into paying clients in your area.
UK clients in their own words
Three UK hypnotherapists who use the system, talking about what changed in their practice.
Mike Harris runs Anxiety Freedom in the north of England. He was working part time and getting leads from Facebook and word of mouth before he started with us, and had to go full time.
"I get leads by the bucketloads."
Angharad runs Abergavenny Hypnotherapy in Wales. She was teaching part time alongside her practice and gave up the job because she had too much hypnotherapy work.
"I had to give up my job because I had too much hypnotherapy work."
These are their experiences, not promises. If you want to see how the numbers work for your own area, the guide to Google Ads costs for hypnotherapists walks through the maths.
Is your UK area free?
We work with one hypnotherapy practice per area in the UK, so the first step is checking yours isn't taken.
If it's free, we'll talk through your area, your fees and a starting budget that makes sense for you. If it's taken, I'll tell you straight away. Have a look below.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Google Ads cost for a hypnotherapist in the UK?
You set the budget and pay per click. In one Newcastle practice we run, GBP 433 of ad spend in September 2026 produced 8 booked consultations, about GBP 54 per booked consult. Results vary by area and follow-up.
Can I target all of London?
We don't recommend it. London is so dense that a small area around your practice usually gives you plenty of searches, and a tight area keeps your budget on people who can actually get to you.
Do you work with hypnotherapists in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
Yes. We work across the UK, one practice per area. One of the clients on this page runs her practice in Abergavenny, Wales.
Do you charge in pounds?
Our fee is in US dollars and is the same in every country: USD $550 setup, then USD $400 a month for a three-month pilot and USD $600 a month after that. Your ad budget is separate and is paid straight to Google in your own currency.
How long does Google Ads take to work for a hypnotherapist in the UK?
Enquiries usually start in the first weeks, but the account takes around three months to learn which searches turn into paying clients in your area. That's why the first three months are a pilot.
Do I need a lock-in contract?
No. There's no lock-in contract. The three-month pilot is there because that's how long the account needs to learn, not to tie you in.
